Poached Pears in Red Wine

Elegant and aromatic pears poached in spiced red wine, perfect for a refined dessert.

Ingredients (Makes 4 servings):

  • 4 ripe pears, peeled
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and orange zest. Bring to a simmer.
  2. Add peeled pears to the wine mixture and poach for 20-25 minutes until tender, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. Remove pears and simmer the wine until it reduces to a syrup.
  4. Serve the pears drizzled with the wine reduction.
