Poached Pears in Red Wine
Elegant and aromatic pears poached in spiced red wine, perfect for a refined dessert.
Ingredients (Makes 4 servings):
- 4 ripe pears, peeled
- 1 bottle red wine
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 4 cloves
- Zest of 1 orange
Instructions:
- In a large pot, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and orange zest. Bring to a simmer.
- Add peeled pears to the wine mixture and poach for 20-25 minutes until tender, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Remove pears and simmer the wine until it reduces to a syrup.
- Serve the pears drizzled with the wine reduction.
