Classic Tiramisu

Dessert On a White Ceramic Plate

Ingredients (Serves 8-10):

  • 2 cups espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 3 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 package ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
  2. Gently fold the mascarpone into the yolk mixture until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Mix the espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture and arrange in a single layer in a dish.
  5. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours (preferably overnight). Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
