Classic Tiramisu

Ingredients (Serves 8-10):
- 2 cups espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 3 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 package ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
- Gently fold the mascarpone into the yolk mixture until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- Mix the espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture and arrange in a single layer in a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours (preferably overnight). Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
